Sonya Williams is an executive leadership coach with more than 25 years of progressive experience in the field of Human Resources Management and Development. Her experience spans multiple employment sectors to include but not limited to: non-profit human services, banking, higher education and healthcare associations, insurance and government contracting.

Ms. Williams has provided the strategic leadership and direction for Human Resource functions throughout her professional career. She is a collaborator and strategic thought partner experienced in the areas of strategic planning, executive consultation/coaching and the full talent management life cycle. Ms. Williams has designed and managed employee benefit programs to include executive compensation, she has managed regulatory compliance, workforce planning, performance management system design and implementation.

Throughout her professional career, Ms. Williams has been an advocate for employee engagement, staff development and workforce excellence. She has worked at American Council on Education as the Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer for more than eight years. Prior to joining American Council on Education, Ms. Williams was the Vice President for Human Resources and Administration at Reading is Fundamental.

Ms. Williams’ find passion and her volunteer work. She has led workforce development sessions in the community, coordinated employment readiness seminars; preparing adults and youth for careers in the public and private sector.

Ms. Williams holds a M.A. in Management from Webster University, a B.A. in Journalism from Wichita State University and is a certified senior professional in Human Resources (SHRM-SCP and SPHR). She also holds a certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University. Ms. Williams received her executive coaching training from Georgetown University’s Institute for Transformational Leadership and is certified by the International Coaching Federation.
